Don't forget to review your job/club description and info so we will know which clubs learners can choose from on Monday!  Thank you Casey Wagner again for your help with getting this going and organized for kiddos!  Also, thank you for those of you who have already added in your TEKS!
Here is the link once again to review over everything!

Special Friend's Day - Fall Family Picnic
I wanted to put a reminder a little ahead of time for our upcoming events on Friday, September 23rd.  Please remember that we will have many people in the building during the day, so make sure you are preparing your learners to use the manners and remember their expectations!  Also, make sure you keep your items in sight such as technology tools as well as personal items you may have with the many people coming and going throughout the day.

Also, the fall family picnic is from 5:30-7:00pm.  If you would please make sure that you are attending for at least 45 minutes/1 hour for this school-wide event.  If you are unable to attend, please make sure you let me know as this is one of the events to help build relationships with our TCE families!

Super Teacher
Please note that there are only three (3) opportunities to win a SuperTeacher award this year. The nomination form is aligned to the Educator Evaluation and the scoring rubric is the Educator Evaluation instrument. Deadline for the first round is October 14. The cutoff dates for the final two opportunities are February 3 and April 14.  If you aren't aware about what the Super Teacher award is, your team leader can fill you in!  Please try to nominate someone on our TCE team, so we can recognize the amazing learning happening!

From the Desk of BS
Good Morning Meetings!

As many of you may or may not know, Will Smith is one of my favorite actors and musicians. Timberlake and Fallon are close behind, but I go back to “West Philadelphia Born and Raised” every time I hear the Fresh Prince has a new movie coming out. If you have ever seen Hitch, Smith plays a relationship consultant that has several rules for his clients:

We’ve been here for three weeks and we cannot tell you how wonderful it is to see you guys greeting and extended that #tcefam love to your learners first thing in the mornings!  Monday morning meetings are a crucial part of this process, where a safe space for learning is developed from the beginning of the week.  By setting this expectation you are creating a culture of respect and trust in your classroom.  Please see the link below from a blog that I follow (edutopia), about the importance of morning meetings:

Also another great activity to get to know your learners, gain their trust, and begin to understand their stories can be accessed from the link below:

Thank you again for a wonderful week of learning!

Curriculum Ideas/Resources
As we are looking closely at our instructional strategies supporting differentiation this year, I found two brief articles that were interesting as we start reviewing and then digging deeper.  The first article looks at differentiation and the basic pieces involved.

Another article highlighted several ways in order to utilize technologies to support differentiation in learning.
