Important Reminders and Updates!

Special Friend's Day - Fall Family Picnic
Just one more reminder for our upcoming events on Friday, September 23rd.  Please remember that we will have many people in the building during the day, so make sure you are preparing your learners to use the manners and remember their expectations!  Also, make sure you keep your items in sight such as technology tools as well as personal items you may have with the many people coming and going throughout the day.

Also, the fall family picnic is from 5:30-7:00pm.  If you would please make sure that you are attending for at least 45 minutes/1 hour for this school-wide event.  If you are unable to attend, please make sure you let me know as this is one of the events to help build relationships with our TCE families!

Super Teacher
Please note that there are only three (3) opportunities to win a SuperTeacher award this year. The nomination form is aligned to the Educator Evaluation and the scoring rubric is the Educator Evaluation instrument. Deadline for the first round is October 14. The cutoff dates for the final two opportunities are February 3 and April 14.  If you aren't aware about what the Super Teacher award is, your team leader can fill you in!  Please try to nominate someone on our TCE team, so we can recognize the amazing learning happening!

From the Desk of BS
From the Desk of BS….Volume 4

Me claiming to be a Texas Rangers fan does not come as a shock to anyone #nevereverquit.  But to this day, I can assure you that my allegiance also lies with The Dallas Cowboys.  Some of you may ask, why would you put yourself through such misery, but in my elementary years they were royalty, winning 3 Super Bowls in 4 years from 1992-1996.  I grew up watching the triplets, Aikman/Irvin/Emmitt, play with passion and not leaving any doubt that they were the team of the 90s.  The Dallas Cowboys have a long tradition (although not recently) of excellence and have one of the most historic franchises in the NFL.  Their former head coach and one of the most iconic figures of the organization once said:
Growing up in a household as a sports enthusiast and playing sports year round, I understand that in order to be successful and continue to grow and get better we have to have a plan and set goals.  In reaching these goals we maintain a constant focus and move forward in our journey to become the best.  I know that as a player, once we reached a certain goal, our coaches would continue to raise the bar and make us reach even higher, pushing us to grow.

As we started meeting this week, I’ve truly enjoyed discussing the goals that you all have as educators this year.  As we continue to get into the school year we not only want to make sure we are setting goals, but we also must be sure we have a plan on how we are going to achieve them.  It has been a joy meeting with you all and hearing your plans to meet those goals and how they will make an impact on student success.

In thinking about these things we also want to consider how important it is to set goals with your students, and continuing to revisit them throughout the year in order to make sure they are seeing their growth and have ownership in their learning. The following links provide some resources that may be helpful for you as you begin to meet with your learners to set goals:

Thanks again for all you do and I look forward to another great week at TCE!

Shout Outs!
Brett, you are a "game changer" in the lives of others. You A-L-W-A-Y-S take the time to TRULY listen, offer specific and practical suggestions, respect every individual, bring us back down to earth with your "coaching" strategies,  challenge us to better ourselves both professionally and personally, and always follow up. These "game plays" you run in our lives naturally overflow to positively impact our learners as well. Sam Walton said it best..."Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it's amazing what they can accomplish." Thank you for helping TCE "win" every day (even if the Rangers don't-ha)!

Shout out to Leigh Ann for stopping in to check what we might need in Practical Academics then scheduling a meeting that week so we could get to work on some items right away!  Thank you so much!

Thank you classroom teachers of our MLI learners for getting them to Dyslexia Therapy on time!! My time with them so is crucial and every minute literally counts! Ya'll have  been PHENOMENAL by setting timers, etc to get them to my room! I TOTALLY APPRECIATE IT!

Candace - Thanks for getting the Spheros ready to go for our first graders! They had a blast painting and coding.  We appreciate all your hard work to get this organized!  Kelly & Marie

Beth - I LOVE seeing all the amazing art work in the halls!!

Curriculum Ideas/Resources
Don't forget about the power behind using sentence stems to help your learners and guide them at times as they write or have discussions of learning.  We will be talking more about sentence stems in learning throughout the year!  This is an especially good technique for ELL learners as Lisa told us about when discussing language/content objectives!

Final Quote for the Week
Appreciating the unique differences in others is something our learners need support with each and every day. . .think about how you can help them with this throughout the year!
